Protecting the Permanent Fund – conversation with the APF Trustees on Jan 7, 2025

Dec 18, 2024

Alaska’s Permanent Fund is in peril. Over the last decade, volatile state revenues have placed increasing pressure on the Fund to support public spending. The potential for unsustainable spending from the Fund pose a direct threat to Alaska’s long-term future and prosperity.

For over 20 years the Permanent Fund Board of Trustees have recommended a constitutional change to restructure the Fund as a rules-based endowment, protecting it for future generations. Such a change would require action by the legislature and a vote of the public. But our window may be closing.

Join us for a fun evening at 49th State Brewing, exploring one of Alaska’s most important public policy issues: protecting the Permanent Fund. If you cant’ make it in person, you can watch a livestream of the event during or after on on Alaska Common Ground’s YouTube Channel .
